i've had 2 herniated discs (specifically c5/6 & c6/7) in the last six years. i have a large chest. is it possible that this is the cause?

I doubt it: There no evidence that people have large chest have more cervical disc problems. There are study to show if a lady have large breasts that could strain her neck and back.

i have herniated discs in my middle back. can it make you feel like there is tightness in your chest from the pressure?

Yes: Due to referred pain. Do back exercise and walk 1 hr daily may remove ur pain keep surgery last on the back burner

Yes: Lower cervical vertebrae disk disease can affect nervous supply to the lower neck, shoulder, upper back, upper chest muscles.  Pain/spasm  of these muscle groups can result in chest tightness.

Yes  and no: Herniated disks and various pain syndromes are certainly related.  Do you know why your liver enzymes are high?  Please make sure you are not taking too much tylenol (acetaminophen) or tylenol (acetaminophen) containing products, as tylenol (acetaminophen) overdose can cause elevated liver enzymes.  Hepatitis c can cause high liver enzymes as well as muskuloskeletal pain.

Could be referred: Pain from acid reflux, gastritis, ulcer or gallbladder issue.  It could also be back pain as most back problems do not arise from a disc herniation.  See your doctor to get evaluated.

Degenerative disks: Yes unfortunately it usually gets worse as time passes on.

: A herniated intervertebral disc in the upper spine may cause chest discomfort. Usually symptoms radiate from the back around the side &amp;into the front of the rib cage. However if the ruptured disc presses against a certain area of the spinal cord symptoms may be felt only in the front of the chest.  An MRI of the thoracic spine would demonstrate this. A neurologist is best to evaluate &amp; advise you.

Varies: Pain from a herniated disc can be severe with symptoms of pain, numbness, tingling and weakness in the back, buttocks, upper leg and lower leg. On the other end of the spectrum, there can be little or no pain to a herniated disc.  Be sure to see your doctor if you are suspicious of a herniated disc.

As always...Depends: Herniated discs are sometimes just an incidental finding and not always the cause of back pain.  It is important to have a board-certified physician work you up to determine the cause of your back pain. The most common cause of back pain is musculoskeletal which is treated with heat/ice, rest, physical therapy and anti-inflammatories.

Kinda: It is possible for  back painful discs to bulge slightly and a radiologist use the words slight herniation to describe the bulges, best to think of disc herniations as causing leg pain.
