As always...Depends: Herniated discs are sometimes just an incidental finding and not always the cause of back pain. It is important to have a board-certified physician work you up to determine the cause of your back pain. The most common cause of back pain is musculoskeletal which is treated with heat/ice, rest, physical therapy and anti-inflammatories.
