Bruising: I would get a few labs checked to make certain you are fine which would include a CBC with a platelet count, a PT/PTT, an iron level, your protein and albumin levels and maybe a bleeding time.  As a female, if you had a clotting disorder, I would think you would be aware of it by now as you are 26 and I assume have been having a period every month so that would be very heavy.

Petechial rash: Bruising without trauma can signal a blood disorder such as itp. Best to see a doctor for examination and appropriate tests.

Yes: Pain is always a sign that something is amiss. The description is not specific to a single cause. One must consider what travels in and through that area. There are muscles,bone,  blood vessels, a connection through the groin to an area where hernias can occur. With no history of trauma or bruising I would want to examine the site &amp; possibly do an ultrasound to search for a cause.

Persistent bruise: You may have had a hematoma, a pool of blood under the skin. This takes a long time for the body to reabsorb (sometimes many weeks). The skin may be somewhat &quot;stained&quot; from the pigments in the blood that is slowly being degraded and reabsorbed by the normal slow process. Nothing to worry about. It&#x27;ll go away eventually.

i have a bruise on my thigh without injury. last week it was green now its red with a white center. it does not burn or itch?

If something: Is red with a white center the first thing to consider is infection.  Now, it's generally painful if that's the case but how that is related to a bruise can be hard to say unless there was trauma with a disruption of the skin allowing for infection.  Not sure but get seen if worsens, swells or gets painful.  Good luck.

i have a terrible sudden pain in my l thigh like a deep bruise. no recent injury and no bruise. i have developed tingling in my toes, is it serious?

You on blood thinner: If you're on blood thinners such as coumadin (warfarin) or any of the newer generation anticoagulants then, you should see your doctor immediately if the pain doesn't either disappear quickly or gets worse..especially if bruising begins to be seen.  Otherwise, you've unknowingly overstimulated what sounds to be either your sciatic nerve or stretched the L4 or L5 nerve roots in the back.

Hemosideran: If color change only and no lump or defect, likely hemosideran deposit from blood that leaked into area from bruise/hematoma. This pigment from the blood can be left behind causing purple, blue discoloration to the skin. Nothing I know of to do to treat it or make it go away. Sorry. Perhaps Dermatologist might be able to use laser to treat as they do with tattoo removal but unsure. Dr. R

Depends: Depends on the injury. Generally rest, icing, use of over the counter antiinflammatories, and gentle stretching could help the area.

is it normal for my hip to feel tight after a thigh injury?

Accepted Answer

It depends.: After a joint injury the joint will tend to stiffen up during the inital healing phase while its relatively immobile.  This is more common in shoulders and elbows.  In the hip, some stiffness is expected, but it should resolve by 2-3 months.  Try stretching exercises or yoga.  If it fails to improve, it should probably be evaluated by a trained professional and may need a little rehab.
