Persistent bruise: You may have had a hematoma, a pool of blood under the skin. This takes a long time for the body to reabsorb (sometimes many weeks). The skin may be somewhat "stained" from the pigments in the blood that is slowly being degraded and reabsorbed by the normal slow process. Nothing to worry about. It'll go away eventually.
