Compression: It is possible that you have venous insufficiency (leaky valves in your veins). A simple ultrasound can determine whether this is the case. In the interim, simple below knee compression socks (15-30 mm hg), leg elevation, and nsaids (ibuprofen) can help your symptoms. If conservative measures fail to help, then consult a vascular surgeon for possible venous ablation.

Sore veins : Are the veins the problem? When veins enlarge in the legs they can cause leg pain, but so can arthritis, nerve issues, and artery circulation issues. Vein problems in the leg can be helped with compression stockings, exercise, or surgery

Leg pain: Leg pain is tough to simply diagnose over a computer.  possibly with the "lots" of walking you have been doing, you are getting an "overuse" syndrome with strains and pains of your leg muscles, etc. Try some over the counter nsaids and get appt for eval to have the legs checked out and the veins looked at too. i have protruding veins with knots in my left leg below the knee.  it is now coming up back of leg with soreness.  what causes this?

Bad Veins: What you are describing are varicose veins with either areas of enlarged varicosities(look like grapes) or areas of superficial phlebitis(clotted veins),  either way  you should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation including a venous reflux ultrasound to make the diagnosis and help to determine the treatment plan.

Less than a day. : Sclero therapy is very well tolerated, especially with polidocanol. Some stinging with administration but quickly fades away.

Varicose veins: These aren't dangerous but can become painful if the thrombose (develop clots inside).  Weight loss could potentially help.  If aestheticly unpleasing or painful, you can see a plastic or vascular surgeon.

Hemangioma: If you have had these since a child and they are throughout the body and not just of the legs I would think this would be more likely some type of problem with hemangiomas which some people are more genetically prone to.  I think it would be a good idea to see a Dermatologist.

Potential Clot.: No, this is not typical. In fact, you are describing symptoms that could very well be indicative of a clot formation in your leg. You need to be seen as soon as possible to remove all doubt. Untreated blood clots can have catastrophic results if allowed to go untreated.

See a DR: Maybe not infected, will respond to prescription cortisone such as clobetasol gel.
