Not usual: Release of band in trigger finger is relatively simple surgery and should not cause' loss of dexterity '  how ever if unexpected infections etc sets in may  result in loss of dexterity, ask  your surgeon, risks and benefits of surgery.

Trigger finger: There are a number of factors involved in the cost of surgery including surgeons fee, hospital/or fee, etc. It is a relatively short procedure so cost would be on the lower end in the surgical spectrum but it's best to see a hand surgeon for evaluation and estimate. This is often covered by insurance as well!

since my carpal tunnel release i have developed trigger finger, could the previous surgery have set it off?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but not likely: Inflammation is common after any surgical procede.  Swelling in the hand after carpal tunnel release may lead to inflammation in the tendons and tendon sheaths. If triggering occurs, oral/injectable steroids and therapy should relieve symptoms.

Very: It's successful and a fast recovery time. There's some residual aching and this takes a little more time.

No: No, surgery for trigger finger should not make the lymphedema worse.  The cause of a trigger finger has nothing to do with the lack of draining of the lymph nodes which causes the lymphedema.

You should : Call your surgeon and inform them. While waiting I would ice the hand (with I've bag) and try and elevate the hand above heart level.

Trigger finger: Sometimes surgery is required. A cortisone injection may relieve the problem without surgery.

how long does it take to heal trigger finger after surgery?

About 2 weeks:: Once release is done, i encourage my patients to exercise/move the affected finger to prevent any adhesions to form between the tendon and its sheath, and to regain full range of motion.
The incision takes 12-14 days to heal, so sutures are taken out then.

Not really: Good news is that the treatment options are highly successful. If splinting and anti inflammatories don't work, corticosteroid injection usually does and is fairly simple and minimally painful. As a last resort, surgery works well with minimal risk.

trigger finger on 3rd finger. shot helped for 8 wonderful weeks now it's back! should i do another shot or just do surgery? kind of worried .

Trigger finger: Problem is created by overuse of the involved digit. It usually will improve by lessening the irritating source. This can be accomplished by decreasing the amount of time using that finger. Using NSAIDs , splinting the finger in extension at nite can also help. Try those first before another injection and or surgery.
