Knee pain: It is difficult to determine the nature of your injury without examining it.  You may just have strained the patellar tendon, which attaches your kneecap to the bone below.  Or you may have injured a ligament in the knee or torn the meniscus.  For now, put a bag of ice in a towel ad place on the knee, 15 min on, 15 min off.  Keep the leg elevated.  Take Ibuprofen 400-800 mg every 8 hours with food

i think i may have osgood schlatter disease based on the lump near the bottom of my knee, only hurts to run/jump. also does osd cause growth spurts?

OSD: OSD typically causes nothing much more than pain with activity and pain with kneeling on knees. You can always pre-treat your exercise sessions with an NSAID (like ibuprofen or naproxen), and ice the areas afterwards for relief. In rare instances, the condition could get bad enough to warrant orthopedic surgery, but that isn't the usual course. OSD doesn't affect growth at all.

my knee hurts on the sides, bottom and in the middle. it grinds. a dent forms in middle when i straighten it. looks a little big. what could this be?

Time to see doc..: Knee effusion can be from infection (i.E lyme), rheumatologic disease/arthritis, trauma, gout, bleeding in (hemophilia) the knee etc... It is not possible to tell exactly what you have or to better advise you since the information you provided is so limited. Thorough history and exam are very important for an accurate diagnosis..Please consult doc for eval. Motrin/aleve may help a bit. Good luck to you.

: Based on the limited information we are unable to come to a clear conclusion. , you should see a doctor in person who can examine you.  There are two things that come to mind a problem with the meniscus or the patella tendon. I tend towards the first.

Fall w/ limp: After trauma with sequela like a limp/pain on walking  would get an xray to make sure there are no subtle fractures.

Patellofemoral pain: Your symptoms suggest patellofemoral pain;the cartilage underneath your kneecap may be thinning or damaged and causes pain in the kneecap region, esp. W/stairclimbing, squats, lunges etc.Keeping the knee bent for a period of time can be uncomfortable.Isometric quad strengthening, hamstring stretching, nsaids and patellar stabilizing sleeve can be helpful.See ors if sx's persist.Gl!

Bakers cyst: It sounds like you have a baker's cyst. It is a benign swelling which is a marker of inflammation within the knee. I would see an orthopedic surgeon who can figure out what is causing the inflammation/swelling in your knee. If that is treated successfully, the baker's cyst, and the associated pain, will likely go away. Good luck.

Get Xray: It is most likely arthritis. You should go to doc to have an xray done. There are other causes such as meniscal and acl/pcl damage which shows up on an mri.

Multiple reasons: Many pathologies can cause knee pain with knee flexion.  Without more info and an exam, it is difficult to give a firm diagnosis.  If pain is severe, you should be evaluated by your primary care physician or orthopaedic surgeon.
