A good fitting: the  internet is full of different ideas of brands of shoes for your foot type and body size.  What you need to do is either find a good shoe fitter at a running store and have hem check your foot and try different pairs with arch supports for your foot.  Make sure it is comfortable and feels like good support.  You can always see a sports medicine physician or a podiatrist who can fit you.

All can be fine: This is hard to answer. It depends on the quality of the shoe, how well it fits the shape of your foot and, most importantly, how well it feels. As a rule, the thicker the sole, the stiffer the shoe, the better the support, the better the shoe is for you. It does mean that other shoes are bad.  Using generalities, my best answer to your question, would be a good running shoe. Dr l.

Could be serious: You should see your doctor.  From the area described it could be tendinitis, strain of the lower gastroc/soleus, or even a stress fracture.

i have a tarsal boss on the top of my foot. had it for years. but now it looks like its bigger and i can see veins on top of the bump. should i have it imaged? ive recently started working out and wearing tighter running shoes. or is this normal?

X-ray for certainty: It doesn’t sound like anything you should worry or concern yourself about. If you have started to take exercise and working out seriously thus  changing your diet you probably lost enough weight to now you’re starting to see veins and other structures on your body. The fat layer is where the blood vessels are located. Therefore this can also expose this bony prominence. X-ray for peace of mind

Vamps disease: The vamp is the part of the shoe you describe, and your diagnosis might be correct. Try not to tie so tight. Sometimes you can restring your shoe and don't cross the laces rather have them go from eyelet to eyelet on the same side only crisscross ing before and after the spot it hurts.

Shoe replacement : This can be a very frustrating problem for a runner.  Changing shoes when appropriate is important. Also the surface you run on can make a difference. You also have to consider any bio mechanical problems as a cause of your stress fractures. A sports medicine podiatrist or a physical therapist who’s knowledgeable in  bio mechanics might be able to help you
