A member asked:

I have had a tibial stress fracture for 9 months. i have just completed 9weeks of no running and hiking. this week i made a comeback with 2 x5km runs and leg is hurting again. i have running shoes with approx 100km of wear in them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shoe replacement : This can be a very frustrating problem for a runner. Changing shoes when appropriate is important. Also the surface you run on can make a difference. You also have to consider any bio mechanical problems as a cause of your stress fractures. A sports medicine podiatrist or a physical therapist who’s knowledgeable in bio mechanics might be able to help you
