Immunization: There is no specific adverse reaction to tetanus booster- unless someone is allergic to the tetanus vaccine itself.
Otherwise the reaction will be like any other vaccine: mild malaise, low grade fever, soreness on the site of immunization.

Either: Either drug is fine as a second line for tetanus. You need a 10-14 day course. Good luck

Yes: Adults can certainly have reactions to the tetanus shot. Usually soreness or redness at the site. Sometimes a fever, headache and fatigue.

If a child;pertussis: The formulation given to kids as DTP up to 1992 contained the whole cell preparaation for pertussis. This was an effective but problamatic vaccine, as 30% had fever by the 2nd dose and older kids were very sore. It wasn't given over 6y due to its many side effects. The acellular pertussis vaccine replaced it that year & has been remarkable in its lack of shot reactions.

Likely: If he had his pediatric shots then a booster is recommended and if injured- punctured may get additional.
Tetanus is a terrible disease! Avoid it or the chance!

Clinical reaction low in general - local discomfort.
Law school reaction could be severe!

Pobably the stress: Even a needle can distress some people. If there is an unknown risk factor (e.g. Minor genetic) it could be the "last straw on the camel's back". Overall good health is the greatest protection.

Allergist: An allergy specialist might be able to do this. But maybe not necessary. Tetanus is extremely rare. Although periodic re-immunization is wise, it's optional for most people not at special risk. Discuss the issues and possible referral with your primary care physician.

Depends on source: Animal antitetanus serum can cause a multitude of symtoms, called serum sickness.  There may include, fever, joint pains, enlarged lymphnodes, kidney damage, rash, weakness, muscle pains etc.  Serum from human source usually does not have adverse effects, other than the uncommon complications of blood product transfusion.

Call your doctor now: This isn't a normal response to be lasting 72 hours. Call your doctor, and go in for an ad on/ walk in appt. now. If you have shortness of breadth with it, go to the ER instead.

i just received a booster tetanus shot yesterday morning. tonight, i am running a 101 degree fever. is that a normal reaction?

Most likely yes: probably from shot. But look for other causes like for sore throat cough flu like symptoms urinary symptoms that may signify another infection. If fever last more than 24 hours check with your PCP
