Depends: There are many causes of neck and hand pain.  Sometimes a pinched nerve in the neck causes the hand pain.  You may need an MRI and possibly electrodiagnostic studies of the arm to get more information.  There are many other treatment options.

Fewer drug interacti: Fewer drug interactions and safer profile,  but in my experience not as effective and low sodium is more frequent.

Accepted Answer

Less likely but: Similar drug chemically, and claimed to have fewer adverse reactions, but still could affect bone marrow, just less often.  Still can result in liver toxicity, low serum sodium, elevated cholesterol, and drowsiness/dizziness issues.  Remember "oxcarbazine" is a rather old drug, is generic, and likely not as well tolerated as newer anti-epileptic products.

Tegretol: Common are nausea, headache, rash, ataxia, anemia, effect on liver. Safe if monitor blood levels &amp; other metabolic parameters.

An archaic drug: Has been successfully used in treating trigeminal neuralgia, and later used in epilepsy.  Is not a broad spectrum anti-epileptic and makes absence and myoclonic seizures worse.  Has been used in psychiatry, and off-label for many additonal purposes.  It has sort of a nasty side effect profile, but is still used occasionally due to low cost.

Possibly: Theoretically yes as it does have central nervous system effects. More notable side effects include sedation, dizziness, confusion, unsteadiness, nausea, and even headache - all of which can contribute to a feeling of anxiety as well.

NO: Tegretol(carbamazepine) is a medication used mainly for control of epilepsy, neuralgias and some psychiatric conditions it can actually cause dizziness or balance problem in susceptible individuals.

Yes: So the short answer is yes, but different SSRIs inhibit different parts of the bodies drug breakdown mechanism. Thus, some will increase the levels more than others. Also everyone is a bit different. It is like that lexapro (escitalopram) has the least interactions in this way.
