Please describe the medication: carbamazepine?

An archaic drug: Has been successfully used in treating trigeminal neuralgia, and later used in epilepsy. Is not a broad spectrum anti-epileptic and makes absence and myoclonic seizures worse. Has been used in psychiatry, and off-label for many additonal purposes. It has sort of a nasty side effect profile, but is still used occasionally due to low cost.

Tegretol: This is an anti-seizure medication. It is also effective in face pain (trigeminal neuralgia) and mood disorders.
