Dental exam needed: Have you had your teeth cleaned since you started wearing your retainer?  No pain? Ni can't tell you if this is stain, calculus build up or decay, only  by having a dental exam can this be determined.  See a dentist asap.

Black lines: It might be stain, it might be decay, it might be a build-up of calculus (tarter), it might be periodontal (gum) disease.
It would be best if you had an examination at your dentist to be sure.

Usually Normal: Dark areas in the gum are generally normal. This is often found in non-caucasians, and it's referred to as "racial pigmentation." it's completely normal and harmless. It can also be "freckles."  the 2nd common cause is discoloration from an old filling material, especially if it's amalgam (mercury). This is also harmless. Sometimes, lasers can remove these discolorations if they bother you.

Thats the sign: you should see an oral surgeon and evaluate the situation before they become problematic. In my experience %95 percent of the times wisdom teeth have to be removed and it is always safer, easier and less painful if you get it done early on. don't wait see a dentist or an oral surgeon asap

Black gum area : If the color of your 6 year old's gum is an unusual color and you feel that it  is related to the recent surgical procedure, you should return to the treating dentist for a reevaluation. Sometimes what appears to be discoloration is  a form of pigmentation. Either way, a visit to your dentist for a definitive diagnosis is appropriate.
