ive been taking tarina fe 1/20 birth control pills for about a year. does the pill become less effective if i take it like a few minutes before and/or after? an example like if my time is usually at 9 i take it at 9:30 sometimes i forget?

: If the oral low dose bcp (Tarina Fe, for example) is taken punctually, within the hour of the previous day's active pill, breakthough bleeding can be avoided.  "Missing" an active pill by 30 minutes will not alter the effectiveness.  Starting the new pack should occur no later than the next day after the placebo pills are finished, if this interval is missed, pregnancy may occur.

Accepted Answer

No cycle on ocp: As long as you are taking your pill, it is okay to skip cycles.  It has to do with the dose of the progestin in the pills.

No: Eleven minutes late is too late if a person is trying to get on a plane after the gate door has locked, but 11 minutes makes no difference with birth control pills. The usual instructions for when to take a birth control pill that was forgotten earlier the same day, is to take it as soon as one remembers it and then stay on one's usual pill-taking time schedule. If worried, ask the prescribing Dr.

45mg elemental Fe: Slow fe has 45mg of "elemental" iron in each tablet. Haven't heard of another size of slow fe tablet.

May be Fe deficient: One can throw off one's basic iron studies by taking a vitamin with iron, or eating a steak, before having the blood drawn. This is worth watching and perhaps supplementing, and I'd urge you to get checked to be sure you are not losing blood in your stool or some other way besides monthly. You may have an ulcer or other lesion.

How low?: Need the entire clinical picture. Why was the lab done? How are you feeling? Is there any family history of anemia? Have you had bleeding, including heavy periods? Follow up withe the managing doc.

Sjogrens causes  dry: Sjogrens is a systemic  autoimmune connectvie  tissue  disease. Although it can have  many serious problems the classic findings are  dryness of mucous  membranes  such as  the eye, mouth, nose, etc. There is an autoimmune attack of the moisture producing  glands - like the salivary glands, the (lacrimal) eye glands and even the small glands  that  are  part  of the lining of the mucous mebranes.

Low dose bcp's: If you are taking a combination low dose oral bcp, there is a time when just "sugar pills" , or placebos are given for seven days , during which time a "period" occurs.  If a seven day absence of hormones does not interfere with pregnancy protection, missing by "2 hours" from the usual time will not either.  Just don't miss taking the active pill on day eight, as you might ovulate !

i don't take my microgestin fe pill at the same time everyday. i take it between 10 pm - midnight. am i still protected with this two hour time span?

Yes: Microgestin Fe is a combination pill so as long as you take it everyday, you're fine, although I wouldn't suggest 11:59PM then 2 minutes later at 12:01AM. Check out http://plannedparenthood.tumblr.com/post/23827960518/timing-of-birth-control-pills. Progestin-only pills have a much narrower 3hr leeway.
