I would encourage you to decrease alcohol consumption if you were a daily heavy drinker and are still consuming moderate amounts of alcohol. If you are wondering if the single light colored stool is suggestive of cirrhosis, I would say it's impossible to tell just based on stool color. Irregardless, moderate-heavy alcohol use does lead to cirrhosis, and I'd recommend cutting back or quitting.

i've developed tan-khaki color stool during what seems to be some type of food poisoning. could this point to possible underlying pancreas issues?

Pancreas: Probably not but please see your doctor.
You might need a referral to a Gastroenterologist.

No current need to be overly concerned.

NotEnoughInformation: Tan colored stools may be normal but the pain in left sided abdomen may need to be checked.Depending of it's location it may be problem with colon,kidneys,ovaries etc.I will advice to get it checked by doctor if it persists.We don't have enough information like any other co existing symptoms,intensity/location of pain/any relation to your periods etc,to tell you what it could be.Get it checked

Maybe not, but...: The gallbladder concentrates bile from the liver &amp; mixes it with food to digest fats in your diet.  When the gallbladder is sick, you may feel right sided abdominal &amp;/or back pain with meals, &amp; have tenderness in the right upper abdomen.  Liver disease or obstruction of the bile ducts may result in jaundice (yellow color), dark urine, tan-colored stools, pancreatitis. Time to get lab work &amp; exam?

Undigested food: particle. What you described are probably undigested food particles.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Nah...: Lighter colored stools reflect what you have eaten recently.  Unless you are have very loose stools like diarrhea that you have to worry about becoming dehydrated -or - bloody stools, the change in stool color is not to be concerned with.  Any new foods? Supplements? Vitamins? Or medications?   If so these would explain as well...   Best to you!

my son is 6 yrs old and has continuous light tan / clay coloured stools. they are either type 4, 5 or 6. he rarely has what i would call normal c?

Stools color and ...: ...consistency varied to much to just establish one as normal and the rest abnormal. With respect to color abnormal is considered BLACK, RED or WHITE. In consistence abnormal will be LIQUID or HARD PELLETS.  Always important to remember the longer the stools stay in the last part of the colon the drier and bulkier they become...and harder to pass. Probiotics are always a great help.
