ive had a somewhat rash on my neck for the past week and it kind of looks like a little bit of a bruise and then some bumps & i wanted to know if that could be because of a reaction or if its something else i should talk to a dermatologist about?

Hard to say: without visualizing it  &amp; obtaining history. If it doesn't go away, let your parents know and they can start with an appointment with your primary care provider.

See your doctor: If you have a skin problem it is helpful to see your doctor and allow the physical exam with the history make a proper diagnosis.  At that point you will also receive treatment and that is far better than using online help.  Often in those situations they are trying to sell you something.

Most do: I cannot answer for all dermatologists, but we do in our office, and i believe that most of us do.  It is probably wise to call the office before making an appointment and ask.

Highly unlikely: Glycerin is not known to be a contact allergen .  The most pertinent test is whether you have an adverse reaction to it or not. If you use it and note no problem, use it as long as it works for you.  Reaction to cosmetics is more likely to the fragrance and whatever else is added and not the glycerin.

i have a congenital nevus spilus. it is about 3 cm long. online dermatologist have said mine is macular.
i can not see a dermatologist should i worry?

ConsultPrimaryCareMD: While the online dermatologists may be correct in their diagnosis most of the time,it is not the same as doing a real life examination for nevi especially.I will consult your primary care doctor and get his recommendations if it needs a dermatologist consult

i had a a rash on both my thighs. from pictures online it looked exactly like folliculitis. i went to a dermatologist and she said it is herpes. but i have it on both thighs and dosent look like a herpes rash. can it be herpes?

: Your own assessment sound right. This would be exceedingly atypical for herpes. If the dermatologist really suspected herpes, she should have tested you to confirm the diagnosis. Get a second opinion, either from another dermatologist or perhaps an STD expert. Good luck.

i was diagnosed with scabies. my dermatologist told me to apply permethrin lotion 5% only on affected areas for 10 days continuous. i read online that only one application a week is necessary. should i be heeding the docs advice?

: I generally advise to apply to all surfaces neck to toes overnight once. Removing the next morning. Retreatment in a week is a common addition to be sure they are killed. You do what you wish.
