Yes: Too many Tums (or other antacids containing calcium carbonate) over an extended period of time can lead to "milk alkali syndrome" in which there are high levels of calcium in the blood & a shift in the body's acid-base balance towards alkaline. This can lead to calcium deposits in the kidneys & other tissues as well as kidney stones. Limit calcium intake to 1500 mg/day in divided doses.

Can lead to nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain/ cramping, decreased appetite, constipation, diarrhea, confusion, delirium, coma, depression, involuntary muscle twitching &amp; cardiac arrhythmia.

No: Pantoprazole and other proton-pump inhibitors will not treat hangovers. Tums (calcium carbonate) is also not good for hangovers but does help a little with the nausea associated with hangovers.  The best treatment for hangovers is not to get so drunk in the first place and to drink clear non-sugary fluids, proteins, and b vitamins to help with symptoms. Time is the only cure.

PPI is better: Over-the-counter proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec (omeprazole) or Nexium (esomeprazole) can protect the stomach from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil (ibuprofen)/Aleve (naproxen).  H2 blockers like Zantac (ranitidine)/Pepcid (famotidine) at double dose are less effective, &amp; protect only the duodenum, not the stomach. Antacids like Tums (calcium carbonate) are inadequate for this purpose.

Stones: No. Not likely causative for kidney stones.  The risk factors for most types of kidney stones have little to do with calcium consumption. Especially short term as you've described.
