i have been taking 15mg oxycodone for years and just got switched to a new doctor who gave me 7.5mg oxycodone/325mg acetaminophen and i get very ill?

Tapering down: This narcotic must be used sparingly and carefully. Your physician is trying to wean down your dose due to the high incidence of sudden death associated with long term use.

if i took 1000mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) at 1 pm can  take a 325/10 oxycodone at 5pm?  thanks
not taking the tramadol right now even though i have it listed !!

In moderation: As long as the interval between Tylenol and Oxycodone is 4 hours, there should be no increased problem with acetaminophen overdose.  Adding Motrin to the Oxycodone may enhance it's pain relieving qualities without the increased liver burden (liver toxicity can occur even with recommended doses).  Oxycodone is under scrutiny (abuse, addiction and death).

No harm: Most of the debate about the role of opioids in chronic pain management is based upon both the safety and efficacy of these drugs and the potential for abuse. Opioids do not cause organ damage with long-term use. Oxycodone has a high risk for abuse and severe, possibly fatal, breathing problems. Be sure you know how to take oxycodone and what other drugs you should avoid taking with it.

No: Percocet is an opioid indicated for pain not as an anti-anxiety medication. There are other medications indicated for this. See your doctor or a psychiatrist.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) doesn't: Neither of your medications interact w/ Tylenol (acetaminophen) but the do have a possible interaction w/ each other. It's not major, but it can make you more dizzy, drowsy, and lower your ability to think as clearly. If you do notice this sort of thing, discuss it w/ your doctor - but you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) as directed w/out fear. Best!

Both narcotics: Oxycodone and hydrocodone are both synthetic oral opioid analgesics often combined with Acetaminophen for pain relief . Oxycodone tends to be more potent than hydrocodone but there is some individual variability to its effecta. Effects are dose related as both are available in various doses. Both can be addictive nd habit forming so should beniaed with caution.

No no harm: I suppose you were prescribed oxycodone by your doctor for pain, it will help the pain and no other harm will come. It can cause usual side effects like nausea, constipation, sedation and mental impairment etc.Oxycodone without  Acetaminophen can be used for pain in appropriate dose.

Is it prescribed?: If it is prescribed for you, it is safe more than 6 hours later.  However, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have 2 pain medications.  If you have mild to moderate pain, usually something like tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil should be adequate, and for more severe pain either tramadol or oxycodone would be reasonable.  Having both concerns me a bit.  However, i don't think there are safety issues.

got my husbands med (oxycodone) &  two 500mg acetaminophen for myself for cramps & a headache. i got distracted & took them all what should i do?

As long as you: only took one oxycodone (presumably 5 mg) with the two acetominophens, you should be ok. They work by different mechanisms. Continue to force fluids a bit. I don't really understand this kind of distraction--some people are so stressed by, say two sources of pain, that they use poor judgment and just take "whatever."  Please guard against this type of bad judgement. Stay well:)
