No harm: Most of the debate about the role of opioids in chronic pain management is based upon both the safety and efficacy of these drugs and the potential for abuse. Opioids do not cause organ damage with long-term use. Oxycodone has a high risk for abuse and severe, possibly fatal, breathing problems. Be sure you know how to take oxycodone and what other drugs you should avoid taking with it.
