A few months: Your body makes the equivalent of 12 mg of Prednisone daily. Once the amount of Prednisone you are taking is less than that, say 10 mg, your moon facies should begin to resolve. It should go away faster if you are completely weaned off Prednisone as opposed to remaining on a low dose. Figure 3-12 months depending on individual variation but it will happen.

Variable: It can take a long time. Did you taper the steroids slowly or just stop cold-turkey. Sometimes totally normal response never returns. Check w/your doctor who can test your system and advise you.

i'm doing a trial off my corticosteroid and have been wheezing at night and early morning, but it doesn't bother me.  can i stay off the medication?

Depends: It really depends upon the cause of your wheezing. If you have asthma and have been on a steroid inhaler and when you stopped it you are now wheezing, it is probably a good idea to remain on the steroid inhaler.  Steroid inhalers are the mainstay of asthma treatment. Bronchodilators such as albuterol are used as rescue inhalers. You need to discuss this with your doctor who knows more about you.

Yes: Albuterol provides quick relief of asthma symptoms and helps to reverse the reactivity of the airway. One non-steroidal controller medication is called Singulair
 ( montelukast ).

: There is an OTC product called IVY DRY that has some helpful effects in such cases.

: Yes, acetaminophen and/or non-steroidal antiinflammatories such as ibuprofen can be used to control pain providing there is no allergy or contraindication.

2 days ago i started using bronchodilator and corticosteroid inhalers as doctor suspects i may have asthma.last night after bronchodilator and today morning after corticosteroid i had severe cough attack.is it a reaction to medication and dangerous ?

: Both bronchodilator and steroid inhalers may cause cough which is a known adverse effect. If your breathing is not impaired, i.e. no dyspnea, you can use them again. If cough becomes intolerable with either one, you can stop that one and use the other for 1-2 days and then try the other. If you could not tolerate both, call your doctor for different brands.
