if i took the pure form of 5 htp 100 mg at 6 am yesterday  morning, would it still be in my system? also, if i want to have a drink tonight if it is still in my system would it interact?

Not significantly: The half-life of 5-HTP is 2.2-7.4 hours (people metabolize it at different rates, but about 12 hours after taking it between about 1-25% of it will still be in your bloodstream, depending on your metabolism. But some is converted to serotonin and that stays in your body awhile to. But most people will feel no effects within 8 hours of taking it. Alcohol will not interact hours after taking it.

i'm taking endep10 and started taking 50mg 5-htp morning and night. just realised can't mix. endep (amitriptyline) 10 is a low dose. is this ok??

Need to discuss: In order to answer your question correctly it would be best to either speak with you or have you speak with your provider. It is correct that these two medicine should not be combined because of the risk of serotonin syndrome. There is risk here.: I have seen a couple of patients who developed serotinergic syndrome on the combination of a serotonin medication &amp; tramadol. 5-Hydroxytryptophan is chemical precursor to serotonin.

Need professional Rx: 5HTP has side effects, some of which are serious.  If you are not scurrectly seeing a mental health professional, you need a referral to see one.  Whether cognitive therapy or new medicines or a combination is needed, management needs to be directed by a physician experienced in the area

Unknown: There has never been a case of serotonergic syndrome in humans reported with combined use. Mice are not so lucky
Unfortunately a formal study has not been undertaken in humans. I'd wait another week just to be on the safe side.
