Sorry No.: The definition is three or more ventricular beats faster than 120 BPM. Unfortunately what you describe could be atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter or any of a number of other arrhythmias. Nonsustained=not lasting, Ventricular=coming from the ventricle, Tachycardia=fast heart beat.

Q: i take 10 mg/dayof propranalol for tachy.on the days i'm late to take it i get really short ofbreath and my heartpounds. could the meds be doing harm?

Medication harmful?: It would appear that taking your medication on time would help to avoid your symptoms. You were given this medication for a good reason (tachycardia). The medication has not caused this condition, not taking it is the reason for the symptoms. Perhaps, a more long-acting beta-blocker would be indicated (one or two times daily). Has your thyroid function been evaluated? You should see pcp.

Epocrates doesn't...: ...specifically say that Levitra (vardenafil) is OK but Cialis isn't. Levitra (vardenafil) has a short half life &amp; Cialis a long half life. They're otherwise, for all intents &amp; purposes, the same drug. Personally I would want my partner to deal with his heart condition first &amp; his sex life second. Probably yes: I'm not sure what you mean by "inappropriate" sinus tachycardia, since there's usually some underlying reason (like fever, anxiety, anemia, overactive thyroid, poor heart function, etc), but sinus tachycardia is different from and can happen at different times to the same patient with paroxysmal atrial tachy (where the heartbeat is suddenly generated by an abnormal area of the atrium ).

Yes it can: Sinus tachycardia can be physiological and can start and last for several hours, but there usually is a trigger like anxiety, panick, caffeine, prescription and over the counter meds and hyperactive thyroid and anemia as well
if it is recurrent and/or persistant than you need to have  blood test and ekg etc to find the cause and treat.

Infants may present with poor feeding or easy fatigability,which may also be evident in toddlers and older children.Laboratory studies include electrolytes, thyroid studies, echocardiogram, holter monitoring in older children, EP studies. Patients with symptoms require pacemakers and avoidance of medications that can exacerbate the prob.

Benign or dangerous: Some forms of tachycardia (fast heart beat) are life-threatening, others are not - though they can be quite annoying. If you have heart disease the odds are somewhat higher that it's a dangerous cause, but either way you need to see a doctor.
