has anyone heard of hyperthyroidism presenting as hyppothryroid symptoms" as a diagnosis? the treatment with carbimazole seems to make it worse!! weightgain of 18kgs b4 diag, the med put on more weight, can not lose it.

Thyroid: Some elderly people with hyperthyroidism do not present with typical symptoms, but I'm not aware that significant weight gain is one of them. Of course antithyroid medications may induce weight gain by lowering the metabolic rate. I would be interested in whether thyroidologists have experience with the paradox of weight gain caused by thyroid overactivity.

should i go to er for suspected hyperthyroidism? been to gastroenterologists and doctors for 2 years, all symptoms in past 2 days have gotten worse?

Family doctor: No. Your symptoms are not life threatening. This is the very reason you have a family doctor, to help you sort these things out!

i have very less blood in my suptum while brushing in the morning. i am a smoker but i smoke less than 2 cigs a day. i have hyperthyroid.

Blood when brushing: May be from gingivitis( gums).  Cough? Would get TB testing, consider CXR to r/o TB,  consider antibiotics if cough is persistent,  f/u /w/ doc urgetn care.

i have a cup that holds 18oz of liquid, is it safe to drink 18oz of cabbage juice every morning?  or would i expect to hit hyperthyroidism?

Depends: I assume you mean raw cabbage juice. Cabbage juice does not cause hyperthyroidism.
How much you can drink may vary between individuals. If it does not cause you any problems, go ahead, but if you notice any stomach discomfort or other adverse side effects, you may want to cut back.

i have hyperthyroidism. i woke up this morning feeling weak. now my heart is pounding faster than usual.  is this something to be concerned about?

Depends: It depends upon how fast your heart is beating and whether there are other symptoms of toxicity, such as fever. Hopefully, you're on beta blockers to keep your heart rate and other symptoms in control -- and you're either on treatment or ready to initiate treatment for  your hyperthyroidism --either anti-thyroid drugs or radioiodine.

does tsh being high mean hypo or hyperthyroid i woke up this morning with my tongue feeling swollen and touching my uvula what could this be?

High TSH: When TSH is high, your thyroid is not working as we'll as it should, so you are hypothyroid.  Rather than tongue swelling, you most likely have uvular swelling.  This can be allergic, traumatic or even infectious.  I would see your doctor for an evaluation of this issue.

is 50 mg of metoprolol succ in the morning and 25 mg metoprolol succ at night - total of 75 a day too much for a 120 lb female for treatment of tachycardia from hyperthyroidism?

How to judge: If the dosing controls your tachycardia, and does not cause intolerable side effects, then your regimen is appropriately successful.  But get additional confirmation from the doctor who knows you best!

my last period may 1721st. had miscarriage jun 20. got depo-provera aug 1st. didn't get 2nd inject due 2 hyperthyroidism. had sex 5 this morning can i be preg?

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone): While it is not likely, after only a single dose, this could be the time you are ovulating. You might consider the morning after pill and speak with your physician about contraceptive alternatives.

Yes: This is very possible, especially in the elderly patients. The definitive way to know is thru lab testings.

May be: Anything medical condition untreated will get worse by age. Usually, only wine gets better by age.
