High TSH: When TSH is high, your thyroid is not working as we'll as it should, so you are hypothyroid. Rather than tongue swelling, you most likely have uvular swelling. This can be allergic, traumatic or even infectious. I would see your doctor for an evaluation of this issue.

TSH: Tsh is a little confusing because when it is igh, it means there is not enough thyroid hormone and you have hypothyroidism. If it's too low, you have too much thyroid hormone and you have hyperthyroidism. Usually we do more than an isolated TSH test, so you should have other tests to go with it. Tongue swelling could be a lot. Because the tongue could block your airway, get checked right away.

Thyroid / ge reflux: Usually high TSH means thyroid gland is not working producing enough hormone or hypothyroid. If your tongue is dry, coated, discolored, or painful, it could indicate a problem such as low thyroid, or hypothyroidism. Gastroesophageal reflux also can cause acute swelling of tongue and throat. You should consult physician for further workup.

Usually hypo (low): The regulation of thyroid hormone works by means of "negative feedback loop". When the concentration of thyroid hormones regulating TSH are low the production TSH is high. Your problem goes beyond the realm of dentistry and my recommendation is for you to see your internist for an evaluation to determine possible causes.
