can i use symbicort and breo the same day?

Not recommended: Not recommended Because BREO and Symbicort are just different versions of the same combinations of two medications .
A corticosteroid ( Cortizone type medication )and a long acting beta agonist. Taking both at the same time will double Dose of both these medications. Follow your doctor’s instructions in general Recommendations take one of these inhalers not both to avoid talking  an excess of both

pcp gave me breo to try for asthma. tried once, seemed ok.  fda hates.  other md switched me to symbicort (budesonide and formoterol). cannot tolerate.  is breo safe?

They are similiar: Keep in mind that these are similiar inhalers, they both contain an inhaled steroid.  the breo in addition contains a long acting brohchodilator.  Each of these inhalers are considered " preventive inhalers" and taking one dose on one day would not be helpful. They both take several weeks of dosing as prescribed to feel better!  Is there a reason for the doctor switch?

i am struggling with getting a deep breath. since i had covid, 11/04/22, my inhaler symbicort did not give me a deep breath doc switched me to breo,albuterol w flovent. no rescue. no deep breath. have tried levalbuterol, qvar and singulair. same?

: suspect you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Ask for a pulmonary function test is you have not have one Especially if you have been a smoker.

: There is no cross allergy between rhofade and symbicort.

Unlikely: In the usual therapeutic doses, Symbicort should not  cause any medically significant immune impairment.  Although one may get a throat fungus if the throat is not rinsed out after each use,  Don't worry about it.

i have accidentally had 3 puffs of my symbicort inhaler instead of 2 puffs. will i be ok?

: Yes it wont harm

No worry: Absorption through the GI tract is very low and the total amount in two puffs compares with only a fraction of what your body makes every day

Go to ER: Your asthma  is recalcitrant to treatment with steroid/LABA. On Vannair, you can use 2 actuations every 12 hours of the 160/4.5, but you should also be using your rescue inhaler. Sounds like you need to have nebulizers ASAP and steroids. I suspect that you may have something else causing either asthma exacerbations or underlying issue that needs imaging/pulmonolgy ASAP. Please go to ER for eval

Very similar: as long as the steroid portion is bio-equivalent.

Accepted Answer

You're ok: It's ok. The 'wait' is to allow time for the medication to absorb slightly in the airways before putting more in. It's probably also more theoretical too. The particle size of the medicine is small enough that it won't matter too much if you did your puffs right back to back. That important thing is that you took your meds as recommended.
