Heat TMJ: Keep the area warm with moist heat, keep teeth apart and move jaw in all directions gently and most important see your dentist to get a nightguard to prevent joint and tooth damage from grinding.

i took my first 2 pills from the 6 day methyprednisone pack and my blood sugar is at 288. im diabetic. is it safe to stop taking? i have sciatic pain?

: What other ways do you deal with your blood sugar? If you need the pain reduction/anti-inflammation effect of the steroid, you may need to tolerate it raising your blood sugar. You can stop it, but any blood sugar elevation may remain up for a while &amp; can be up from the pain. A call to your doc to sort out the two issues would be reasonable.

my lower right jaw is given me problems when i lay down and i eat warm food. when i put an ice pack on it don't seem to effect it any or over-the- counter medicines. plus it's swollen a little. what should i do?

Abscessed tooth: Most likely you are having an abscessed tooth.  Did the warm/hot food caused a toothache also? Can you pin point where the pain comes from?  Please see a dentist asap. He/she can diagnose the problem and fix it.

Depends: This depends upon the cause.  If the swelling is acute, especially if due to trauma, then icing the lids can be helpful for two or three days.  If the swelling is inflammatory, infectious or has persisted for more than a couple of days, then  heat is usually the best strategy.

my daughter has a red mark that hurts from an ice pack. this wa 2 days ago. there are no blisters, but it's warm. will this heal on its own?

Yes it should heal: If there are no blisters, it should heal on it's own in a few days. If the area continues to get more red, warm, and hard to the touch, it is possible that she is developing a cellulitis (skin infection). if it's getting worse rather than better in the next few days I would have a doctor look at it.

Ice reduces swelling: Initially after an injury the tissues begin to swell, This can cause pain and stiffness. In the first stages after the injury ice is the best way to reduce that swelling
