Try support stocking: This may be a varicose vein and may need to be addressed if it is causing discomfort. If there is redness associated with it you may have a superficial phlebitis. If just swollen you can try a compressive stocking.

hurt knee 3 weeks ago. gp took x-rays, nothing broken. knee still hurting, since yesterday knee and leg below knee feeling stiff & swollen, veins back of leg bulging and feels warm. still can't properly move leg without pain?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. What you described suggests a venous thrombus. If it does not improve in a couple of days, it would be prudent to see your doctor.

See vein specialist.: Varicose veins are bulging grape-like appearing veins which are most commonly seen on the legs.  These are due to leaking(refluxing) valves usually in the saphenous system.  Some causes include hereditary, pregnancy, trauma and aging.  The gold standard of treatment is to have a venous reflux ultrasound to both diagnose and form a treatment plan.  You should see a vein specialist.

Not heart: Take a tape measure and check the diameter of your involved leg where it hurts. Do the same on the other leg at the exact same level. They should B within 1 inch of each other. If the painful leg is swollen, C your doctor today for a possible blood clot. If not, it's likely just a muscle spasm (which occurs commonly). This is NOT a symptom of heart disease. Varicose veins are cosmetic issues only.

Multiple options.: Varicose veins are due to leaking (refluxing) valves usually in the saphenous vein system. There is a gold standard of treatment and lesser ways to treat these veins.  The gold standard is to have a venous reflux exam and laser closure of the leaking valves followed by microphlebectomies or sclerothrapy of the vv.  Lesser treatments would be support hose and observation.  See a vein specialist.

Needs evaluation: Veins should not hurt.  If you have a bulging vein and it is tender, then this is suggestive of superficial phlebitis.  You should see a vein specialist for an evaluation.  Warm compresses and Ibuprofen may help but this should be evaluated if  no improvement with heat and Ibuprofen after 4 days.

My concerns: You may have developed inflammation of the veins called thrombophlebitis.  If this is the case, you need immediate attention to prevent embolic blood clots from migrating to the lung.  An ultrasound study could objectify this. Other possibilities exist, but this is the most urgent area to be ruled out.  Contact your doctor now, but an ER visit may be most prudent.

Knee pain: Looks like soft tissue injury just rest ice and ace bandage. If does not get better see your pcp.
