Needs evaluation: Veins should not hurt. If you have a bulging vein and it is tender, then this is suggestive of superficial phlebitis. You should see a vein specialist for an evaluation. Warm compresses and Ibuprofen may help but this should be evaluated if no improvement with heat and Ibuprofen after 4 days.
