i am 23 with lupus.  why do i  wake up with swollen hands and numb throbbing fingers at night and my fingernails turn pale blue. ?

Multiple things: Ask your doctor if you may have raynaud's phenomenon, which turns fingers and toes blue. Also your doctor can check for arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, or other causes. A rheumatologist would be helpful; rheumatologists diagnose and treat autoimmune diseases, arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions like what you are describing.

Finger swollen: Would follow up with rheumtologist . sounds like an autoimmune process, like Raynauds or a vasculitis. May benefit from aspirin 81 mg if not  allergic , also discuss with rheumatologist use of calcium channel blockers . f/u /w /doc today for rheuamtology referral

Uncertain why swelli: What was the cause of the cut? You could have cut a deeper blood vessel with more bleeding and it woud be wise to compress it.  It is wise to see your physician.

?infection: Is there accompanying redness which would suggest an infection? If so, consult your physician for diagnosis and treatment. Acute arthritis of one of the finger joints is another possibility. It's best to have the finger examined in either case.

Need an xray: It is difficult to say whether you have a broken finger without getting an xray.  Your finger could have ligament damage or have a bone contusion as well.  However, a fracture is a distinct possibility.  I recommend an evaluation by a health care professional who should get an x-ray.

You : You likely are dealing with an infection. You need a medical evaluation right away. You will likely be given a course of antibiotics and possibly have the wound incised, cleaned, and drained. In the meantime you can take advil (ibuprofen) or Ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation.

It's very hard: to make a diagnosis without seeing your hand and getting a little more information. if it doesn't get better on its own you should see a physician or schedule a virtual consultation so someone can at least see a picture of your finger.
