Herniation: So, as you probably know, herniation (or a hernia) is where one structure comes through another structure.  Usually, this is not the ideal situation, and needs to be corrected.  I would see your doctor, who will probably refer you to a general surgeon for repair.  I would lighten up a bit on the weightlifting until you know what it is.  Good luck!

Swelling: Given the nature of the surgery, always possible to have some degree of bleeding, fluid collection or even bladder fluid. I would let your OB/GYN know about the symptoms.

could exercising with a waist trainer cause a swollen mons pubis? and if so how can it be reduced or treated?

The big squeeze...: If swelling began after using the trainer, and wasn't there before using the trainer, then there is a high probability that the restricting effect of the trainer is the culprit. Depending on what tissue was strained, it could take days to weeks for resolution, providing no further irritation occurs.

Abscess?: An abscess can cause local swelling, hardness, and pain. It is sometimes accompanied by skin redness and/or fever, but not always. Please see a doctor in person for evaluation; if you have an abscess it may need to be drained (a simple office procedure), and/or require antibiotics. Good luck!

Lump in groin: A "soft, non-painful lump" on one side may be a lipoma,  a benign fatty tumor which has little clinical significance.  See your gyn who can determine the cause.

Mons pubis: The mons pubis is susceptible to sebaceous cysts, swelling due to lymph accumulation, swelling due to surgery such as liposuction, skin tumors, and fat accumulation.  With pregnancy swelling of the vulva and mons can occur.  See your doctor and get examined.
