i have had a swollen lymph node at base of skull and my right ear as well as  itchy scalp for well over two months. any idea what this could be?

Dandruff?: Try washing your scalp frequently, daily would not be too much. It may take a few months of this, on regular basis for the scalp to be healthy and the lymph nodes to regress.

i have an itchy scalp and a swollen lymph node on the left side of my head at the lower  skull line. can you please tell me what might be the cause?

Dermititiis: You could have eczema, seborrhea, atopic or other form of dandruff.  If you scratch it it will tind to worsen and flake as well as get infected.  That will cause the swollen lymph node.  
Start with a dandruff shampoo and stop scratching it.  See if it starts to resolve in a couple of weeks

See a doctor: You should see a doctor. They may or may not be lymph nodes but either way you need an exam.

Don't worry: It's common at age 16 to have enlarged  lymph nodes- you have an active immune system. The lymph nodes at the base of your skull in back are occipital lymph nodes. They get big from viral infections, particularly mononucleosis. If these wax and wane in size, don't worry. If they stay big, see a doctor. Rarely 16-year-olds get lymphoma. I don't think your itchy scalp is related; dandruff?

Mastoid process v LN: It's possible you're feeling your own mastoid process -which is a normal boney nodule right behind the ear. Check both sides of your head to see if it's symmetrical -if so, that's what it is. If these are 'asymmetric' findings you should have a physical exam by a doctor who can explain these findings. I would want to know more about your medical condition and risks for cancer, so schedule w/ an MD

i am having laser tattoo removal on the back of my neck. i had my first session two weeks ago , its healing very well however i noticed a round hard painful lump at the base of my skull back of neck. swollen lymph node??

: You are likely correct. Any disturbance of the skin surface as would be in tattoo removal may trigger enlargement of local nodes that can persist for a few weeks.

i have a sleek braided ponytail and have been dealing with some strong itching. now three looks to be a swollen lymph node behind my head by the base of my ponytail. i know that i tie my hair down tightly with a satin scarf every night. what's wrong?

: You may have some scalp inflammation to explain the itching and the swollen lymph node reacting to it. Have your MD or a dermatologist examine your scalp and advise you.

Hernia: Swollen lymph nodes in the groin area occur just under the inguinal ligament within the femoral triangle of the upper thigh.  A swelling just near or under the base of the penis is where the opening of the inguinal canal is and where a loop of bowel can slide down to become fixed or incarcerated.  Tenderness may be first sign toward strangulation and must be reduced to prevent bowel damage.

i feel nauseous when i eat and i have one swollen lymph nodes at the nack of my neck near the skull and under the jaw. recently i had a tootache.

Needs evaluation: It's quite possible you have some complication from your tooth problem - such as a localized abscess or even a bone infection (as the tooth sits in the bone and an uncontrolled dental infection can extend down into that). Because you have nausea and don't want to eat, that tells me that it's serious and you should not wait for it to go away. Please see a doctor ASAP. Where are you in the Phils?

very dry scalp on right side of head only and swollen lymph nodes at the nape of my neck/skull. any ideas or suggestions?

Inflammatory nodes.: Most nodes in neck that represent a metastatic process are found along the jugular vein.  Nodes at the nape of the neck usually drain the scalp and as such with  scalp problems, this would be the cause of the process and almost always represent inflammation.  This can be controlled with warm soaks to the scalp and at times antibiotics.
