Needs testing: In the form of an us or a ct.  It may be only fatty liver though.

Lose weight: If that is all that is going on, lose weight. However are you sure that is the extent of the problem? Have you seen a specialist GI with an interest in hepatology (will likely be a member of aasld) or a hepatologist?

Postchole-x Syndrome: Postcholecystectomy syndrome is the persistence or return of RUQ abd pain following gallbladder removal.  This is due to non-biliary causes (irritable bowel, ulcer dz, gerd, etc), organic biliary dz (common duct stones/stricture/cancer), or functional biliary disease (sphincter of oddi dysfunction). I advise GI work up to include 
labs, ultrasound+/-ercp, depending on above results.

ERCP: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a procedure used to identify stones, tumors, or narrowing in the bile ducts. The procedure is done through an endoscope.  In addition, it can be accompanied by endoscopic sphincterotomy, which cuts the ampulla of vater allowing for decompression and drainage of the bile duct.  A gastroenterologist usually does this procedure under anesthesia.

Sometimes: This can sometimes occur, but it is not clinically significant unless there is gallbladder cancer.

Gallbladder: The gallbladder is on the right side, so it would be unlikely to be the cause of left sides pain. There is a rare entity known as situs inversus where some or all of the abdominal organs are on opposite sides. A proper evaluation from a primary care doc will be your best bet in figuring it out. Gallbladder attack: Pain under right rib cage.  Pain worse with eating fatty meal. Pain can radiate to back.  Pain associated with nausea, vomiting, possibly fever, chills.
