Swelling: Typically knee surgery can affect the venous outflow from the lower limb and cause swelling below the surgical site. Also if compression dressing or wraps are applied to the knee this will cause an increase in the fluid retention.

Could be normal : Because the foot is the lowest part of your body, swelling may persist for weeks after surgery. However, there are a couple of things to be wary of: if there is skin redness, warmth, or tenderness in the area, i would be concerned about infection or a blood clot or both. Elevate the foot as much as you can, especially when you at upright. And make sure you let your surgeon know about the swelling.

broke 3rd metatarsal w/dislocation,2 weeks ago.doctor said recovery the same with or w/out surgery.allowing it to heal naturally. no pain, improvement in movement, haven't stood on the foot. swelling comes and goes, is this a problem?

Talk to your doctor if you have nerve injury from the fracture? Or some thing else.

Sounds serious: You need to follow your cardiologist's reccomendations, and make lifestyle changes ie. Loose excess weight, low salt/fat diet, no tobacco or alcohol, etc.

: Since your symptoms are only one sided, I have to conclude that the persistent numbness &amp; the other more bizarre symptoms are due to injury in the left cerebral cortex from the brain surgery. I'm unclear as to whether an EMG would document this. I'd have to defer to the neurologist's judgement &amp; opinion.
