TMJ: Chewing gum may have put stress on one of your temporomandibular joints (tmj). Try a warm compress and Ibuprofen to get the discomfort to go away.

Fever control: Monitor her temperature, control fever with children's ibuprofen and/or Tylenol. Choose one but you can use the other medication if needed to normalize her temperature. The swelling may represent infected or inflamed lymph nodes. If there is pain upon pressing on the area, an infection is likely. Please see a physician soon. Provide fluids to avoid dehydration.

Soon.: Since you are on an antibiotic for infection you should be seeing improvement within 2-3 days but it may take the entire antibiotic course or longer for swelling to completely resolve.  If you don't see improvement within 2-3 days see your primary doctor or go back to the UC for a recheck.  There could be many reasons why it's not improving and may need a different antibiotic or I&amp;D.  Good luck.

Need to be seen: See your doctor first for initial evaluation, you may need referral to an ENT, meanwhile, pain killers, and warm compresses would help,  good luck

Swelling behind ear: Swelling &amp; redness  behind the ear with earache especially  if associated with fever could be mastoiditis,  it is urgent that you take him to his pediatrician ASAP or go to ER. Good luck.

ENT Consult: Chronic mastoiditis, which is what may be developing at this point, needs to be addressed immediately. Antimicrobial resistance is a problem, and mastoiditis is treated with antibiotics, ear cleaning procedures and sometimes surgery is necessary. Since you have a fullness in your ear, you should be examined by a physician and have a full+ear exam r/o otitis. Still taking quinidine? See ENT office.

hi, i have a small pea sized lump behind my left ear, it started off as a spot and gained a head ect but when the swelling subsided a lump remained. ?

Cyst : An acne or sebaceous cyst can swell and the regress but remain asa lump under the skin.
