Not sure of the ?: You should resubmit in a shorter form. Weight gain is common after both menopause and stopping smoking (congrats!) but is usually 5-10 lbs. If you have gained considerable weight, this is not healthy for you, and diet and exercise should be the starting point. Many medications that cause weight gain may have alternatives that have less of that. Talk to your doctor about that and about weight loss.

Tough problem: The short answer is caloric restriction and regular aerobic exercise, but it is easier said than done. You may wish to form an alliance with other women in the same boat and form a support group to reinforce the tough choices.

Its possible: Menopause has been shown to start around 2 years earlier than average (49 instead of 51) in woman with a hysterectomy. So, you still have plenty of time before that is an issue. The weight gain is more of a myth.  If you eat healthy and exercise regularly you will significantly reduce any risk (hysterectomy related or not) of weight gain.

Perimenopause: Weight changes during the menopausal transition anf menopause are very common complaints. Central obesity is prevalent and can lead you to heart disease. Caloric intake, excercise and hormonal variations will lead to your weight change issues.

i am a 47 yr old female, i had full hysterectomy 15 years ago. why am i just now starting to experience menopause symptoms? i.e.  night sweats, weight gain etc?

"full" hysterectomy?: Does a "full" hysterectomy include bilateral ovarian removal or not?  If the ovaries were left in place 15 years ago, then this is the life phase at age 47 when menopause symptoms normally  occur.

They shouldn't: Hormones, in general, are weight neutral. If you notice increased appetite on hormones, this may lead to weight gain, as you would be more likely to feed your appetite. Also, sometimes people have water weight gain on hormones, but this is not the norm.

HRT replacement: "True" menopause is defined as that time when ovarian estrogen production ceases.  Today's "evidence based" literature, as opposed to the Womens' Health Study of 2002, agrees with estrogen replacement if started within "5 years of menopause".  Packs of low dose oral contraceptives taken w/o the placebo pills supply a low but effective hormonal supplement. Ask your gyn provider for recommendation.

weight gain is a complex thing: with cymbalta (duloxetine) "patients had a small weight loss early in treatment, returned to baseline weight in succeeding weeks, and had a mean weight increase of 2.1 kg .. after 52 weeks of treatment." 
Cymbalta 60 mg is effective for major depressive disorder - lowering or stopping would invite severe relapse. Entrust yourself to an accomplished psychiatrist.

This : This is a very common complaint amongst women going through menopause.   Most women gain between 5-20 pounds during menopause.  This has to do with the change in the estrogen/progesterone production, and the slowdown of metabolism.  It sounds like you are doing everything right, but are still having a problem.  Be sure that your thyroid level has been checked and is normal, as hypothyroidism can cause weight gain and is a common occurrence.  Seeing a nutritionist can be helpful as well, as they can make recommendations of eating patterns that can boost metabolism.

It's complicated: I don't think we have a definite answer. Certainly metabolism changes with age and the body becomes more efficient at making and storing fat. Genetics, diet, and exercise are factors and the hormone changes of menopause contribute but simple replacement is not usually effective. There may be a role for testosterone supplementation, which is available but outside FDA approval at this time.
