Yes: Tanning occurs in the most superficial skin layer which ALWAYS sloughs off!
Obviously in darker skinned individuals this may not be as noticeable unless "pealing" occurs!

Sun protection: Prevent hyperpigmentation by consistently using a broad spectrum sunblock (protecting against uva and uvb wavelengths) every day. Wear protective clothing (hat, shirt with sleeves), seek shade, avoid being outside during late morning and early afternoon hours. Bleaching creams containing hydroquinone might help as well.

Zero time: A tan is the body's response to exposure to damaging uv rays. People think a tan looks healthy, but in reality it shows that the skin has been damaged, increasing the risk for skin cancer. Always use an approved sunscreen to your baby prior to taking them outside. Please keep them safe and healthy!

Time: There is no medical or dietary means to lighten a sun tan once it has taken place on your skin.  Only time will alter it - the tan will gradually fade if you avoid exposure to the sun or tanning lights.  Next time try sunblocking agents if you do not desire a tan.

Time: Time resolves suntans naturally. No medications needed. No drug side effects to worry about. After about 1 year, the suntan should be faded away (some people fade in a few months, while others take over a year). Of course, use sunscreen-containing daily moisturizers to decrease tanning in the meantime.

Be aware: There really isn't any evidence that UV rays from the tanning bed will affect a pregnancy.  Two issues come about: 1) unnecessary exposure to UV radiation isn't ideal for your skin from a cosmetic(wrinkles) and skin cancer perspective 2) lying down on your back, especially further along pregnancy wise, can lead to compression of major blood vessels/liver/stomach that may cause issues

Sun Tan: there is no safe sun tan, you have actually damaged your skin cells and they have responded by making more melanin.  It won't go away until those cells die. The best thing to do is use sunscreen so that it never happens.  A Dermatologist can help with lasers and other products.
