: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. You may have Raynaud's disease and it would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably a rheumatologist.

burned left middle finger a week ago w/hot glue. has thick scabs w/sunk in places covers almost whole finger . really red swollen w/itchy bumps around finger also even though there is nothing on hand it hurts, itches &swollen at knuckles what to do?

Hand burn : With the entire finger being burned and it causing problems for this period of time it would be recommended that you see your primary doctor to have the hand examined for further management.

swollen ring finger on left hand. no joint pain just stiffness. no other fingers hurt. both hand and wrist feel fine. no redness. any ideas?

Accepted Answer

Swollen finger: Most likely it was an insect bite or an injury that was not remembered.  You have ruled out a systemic arthritis. Tumors of the hand are rare. You are too young for most other problems with fingernails.  They would be obvious and painful. Occasionally, you can see tiny pin point sites of the bite. Use a magnifier.  Don't be surprised if it itches. Warm soaks may help clear the toxins.

May be cellulitis: Besure to have it seem by a doctor. The splinter could have carried an infection into the finger and now it has spread to the whole hand. In the mean time, warm compressed and draining any puss at the splinter site. And remove the splinter if you havent done so yet.

Infection: It sounds as if the laceration has become infected and you will need antibiotics. Could also be because you have a piece of glass in the wound causing a foreign body reaction. You need to be evaluated by your primary care doctor.

was pricked by rose thorn directly in my left hand index finger knuckle. had to pull thorn out of glove! immediately became red, painful, swollen, and loss of mobility. i am concerned it left fungal infection called sporotrichosis.what should i do?

Rose thorn injury: Well sporotrichosis is more of a problem LATER after the initial injury. That's because indeed it's a slow-growing fungus. What happened immediately was probably just the reaction to the injury. Ouch! I would clean it out, apply bacitracin, make sure you're up to date on tetanus then elevate the hand. Check with doc to make sure the joint (knuckle) was not penetrated by the thorn. Hope this helps!

i have a small red kinda bump on my hand up by the knuckle of my pointer finger with a white center it doesnt really hurt but is swollen around there and the swelling is to my middle knuckle two! not sure what i should do?

: Without examining the skin of your hand, it is hard to tell what you have growing on your finger.
You should note down the size and color of this lesion and take a photo(close up) of this lesion. Watch it over one month, then show it to a doctor , either your Primary care/family physician or go to a Dermatologist (skin specialist). Some sort of local treatment will be recommended by the doctor.

Sounds like Raynauds: It sounds like you may have a reaction to cold called Raynauds phenomenon. It describe it to people as an "allergy" to cold. Your body is put into that environment and does not react to it the way it should. It is like a broken thermostat. My advise to you is seek a warm climate and stay out of the cold; and that includes the freezer section in the store.

Swollen fingers: There are many causes of swollen fingers but i would see a rheumatologist or a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis nd treatment.
