Maybe: This is a medication that has not had an official clearance for use in kids (under 18). My backup, pediatric gastroenterologists will occasionally use it off label in difficult cases, usually after they have verified the kids problems with endoscopy.The medication can be quite effective in symptom relief, but its many potential side effects make general or long term use in kids problematic

Not usually: Sucralfate is one of the most easy to tolerate drugs prescribed.  Having said that, however, anyone can have a reaction to any given medication. If you are having specific problems with it, stop it and contact the doctor who prescribed it. Good luck.

No: This medication is not absorbed at all and should not cause any significant side effects other than constipation (or elevated blood sugars with the suspension).

Not usually, but…: Carafate (sucralfate) taken orally will not have any affect on colitis. Having said that, however, it is sometimes used as an enema to treat colitis in the rectum and rectal ulcers. If it is prescribed that way, follow the doctor's advice on how often to take the enemas. Not a good idea: Carafate (sucralfate) is to protect you stomach by forming a protective coating in your stomach lining.  Caffeine irritant to your stomach.  It will make your gastritis worse.  That is why all ulcer or reflux or gastritis patient are put on caffeine free diet.  If you take Carafate (sucralfate) with caffeine, it will make your healing process very slow or getting worse.

Sucralfate: Not to my knowledge.  I remember when it was first released as fda approved.  It has always been available only by prescription.
