Dopamine: This is where a neurotransmitter called Dopamine is formed in the brain.  A majority of Dopamine is formed in this area.   It is responsible for many things.   Degeneration of the substantia nigra leads to parkinson's disease.

No: The substantia nigra is part of the movement system and not the emotion system. For example, destruction of Dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra is the cause of Parkinson's disease.

Dopamine: Stimulation (presumptively by amphetamines)  causes a release of dopamine.  If this is "supraphysiological" - i.e., more than the body would normally account for - you can end up with a Dopamine deficit.    This is the same think as Cocaine addicts have after a run on cocaine, or crank or meth addicts have after a run.  The good news is that the body can and will build it back up if allowed to.

A few facts: (Have no clue what ROS is.)  But we do know that Parkinson&#x27;s can be caused by exposure to Manganese, Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Disulfide, viral Encephalitis, head trauma, and can be drug-induced, especially by major tranquilizers. NOT clear if lead, or iron play a role.  Some pesticides may increase risk.  The basal ganglia is quite sensitive to significant hypoxia.

Yes, it can: Several years ago, it was demonstrated that manganese miners could develop Parkinson's.  The relationship to other metals is not so consistent.  There is also a relationship to carbon monoxide poisoning, and other causes of hypoxia.

: We are all exposed to trace amounts of many chemicals in air and water. Most of the compounds you listed are toxic, but health effects depend on the amount of chemical you may be exposed to. Exposure to car exhaust, with some of the compounds,  in race car drivers has been associated with movement disorders.

Variation in the: pigment changes from pregnancy can vary widely from person to person or even with different pregnancies in the same person. Best to discuss with your doctor to be sure all specifics are considered.

Rarer: I don't know the incidence. It may occur is about 75% of pregnant women. It is no where's near this common in women who aren't pregnant but I could not find stats on this.
