Lung nodule: It is a nodule in the edge of the lung. These are frequently benign, but routine follow up is usually recommended to document stability.

i have a 3mm subpleural nodule on my lung, via a ctscan. should i be concerned?

No: In my old home in Kansas City, almost everybody had a few of these -- old healed histoplasmosis. If your physician isn't worried, I wouldn't be. Watch it if needed -- I'll bet it never grows, and taking it out would be riskier than the small chance it's something that can't wait.

Unlikely: You are extremely young for lung cancer.  Most likely an inflammatory nodule/granuloma left over from a past lung infection.  Good idea to have 1 year followup.

Not necessarily: Usually not a  lymph node, more likely a small benign granuloma from prior inflammation assuming there are no risk factors for malignancy.  Subpleural simply refers to the location...next to, or beneath, the pleura, the membrane that lines the lungs.

if i've had a ct scan of mu lungs and there was a subpleural nodule found 6mm should i get a pet scan? and could this be cancerous?

Very low probability: Lung cancer is very uncommon in your age group. Also nodules located in a sub pleural location have a even lower probability of being malignant. The guidelines recommend a repeat ct scan in one year.   This nodule is too small to be evaluated by pet scan.

i had a ct done on my abdominal area and it found a 3mm non calcified subpleural nodule seen posterolaterally in the left lower lobe. thoughts?

Nodulle in lung: You need to see a pulmonary speacialist as soon as possible to further investigate this nodule it needs to be biopsied through cat guided biopsy or through bronchoscopy.

i am 57, 60 pd.wt loss. have had severe pain in chest. ct scan shows a 5mm subpleural nodule in lll, 5mm in rul, 8mm higher in rul.what should i do?

FOLLOW ADVICE OF MD: We can not advice you as we don't have complete information about these three nodules.
Most common cause of multiple nodules is cancer in other parts of body that has spread to the lungs.But there are many benign causes of multiple nodules like hemartomas, sarcoidosis, rhematoid nodules and wrgners granulomas, tuberculosis, nocardiosis
fungal infections like aspergilosis, histoplasmosis, ;hydrated cysts.

had a follow up ct scan for covid pneumonia , which cleared. a 3 mm subpleural nodule in the posterior aspect of the right lower lobe was found. im a 50 year old female, former smoker, quit 9 years ago, no other health concerns. what could this be?

: This could be an inflammatory nodule related to the pneumonia. The CT scan should be repeated in 3-4 months to be sure it is not getting bigger-hopefully it will resolve. If it does get bigger, a biopsy would be indicated. But, these often resolve over time. Congrats on quitting smoking and I’m glad you are feeling better from your Covid infection. Get a Covid vaccine when you are eligible.

No worries: A nodule of that size in a person of your age is overwhelming benign. Lung cancer is very uncommon in young adults. There are many causes to have lung nodules that are not cancer.
