There are several : Options. Step ups & step downs, wall ball squats, & the really convenient isometric contraction (also w adduction)   are you concerned w a specific injury? Patellofemoral syndrome? A pt or certified trainer can give you more specific exercises. The am academy of orthopedic surgeons site may have some patient resources as well.

Vastus: You have strained the vastus tendon. Try applying some ice and take a NSAID like Motrin or aleve (naproxen).

Healing: Everyone heals at differnet rates but that is a very long time. Suggest you go back to surgeon and be sure there is not underlying infection or pathology.

You have an: Ankle sprain, but I'm sure you realized that. Rest, ice, compression, elevation are the treatment. Gentle range of motion exercises while off weight are good too. You should be okay.

Yes : You are probably describing an MRI report and would do well to follow up with your physician to discuss.  The medial and lateral edema described refers to swelling that is present under the skin.  This could represent an injury such as an ankle sprain, or could be inflammatory.  A ganglion is a flyid filled cyst that can cause local irritation and pain, not uncommonly found in the foot and hand.

Examine : The area involved, there is nothing more definitive that. Seeing and touching the area. No labs needed for diagnosis.

Biopsy or excise: A mass that can be seen on ultrasound that is concerning for sarcoma needs biopsy or excision depending on size.  A small mass can be removed. A large mass will be biopsies and sent to pathology for determination.  Sometimes an ultrasound should be repeated for second opinion or a different radiological study such as mri.

i noticed my left lower limb is swollen. after a few days other leg got swollen. doppler study shows that bilateral subcutaneous leg edema noted. why?

Could : be many reasons, kidney function needs checking, salt intake  should be limited, venous status needs addressing and cardiac functions. see a doctor to review your medical status

U/S is non specific: You need diagnosis. More history. The U/S adds a little but not enough. MRI would also add info, but again may not be enough. MRI would be most sensitive in seeing borders and might give useful info for a surgeon, for ex. vascularity. Only surgeons can decide on incisional bx. vs. excision. Hacking around is cheapest, but for me (a radiologist) MRI is good to avoid surprises and safe to do.
