Not by itself: Subclavicular nodes are an abnormal finding that needs further evaluation to decide why it is there. Rather than jum to conclusions go have your child exsmined by your pediatrician and go from there. A single dusgnostic finding is by no means a diagnosis

i am having laser tattoo removal on the back of my neck. i had my first session two weeks ago , its healing very well however i noticed a round hard painful lump at the base of my skull back of neck. swollen lymph node??

: You are likely correct. Any disturbance of the skin surface as would be in tattoo removal may trigger enlargement of local nodes that can persist for a few weeks.

Node: Pretty common to have nodes in that area. Sometimes they are in response to dental issues or dehydration. Sometimes you are actually feeling the salivary glands themselves. Its good to have them checked out. Ultrasound or CT scan may be helpful

Lymphadenopathy: Yes, you have lymph nodes everywhere in the body and when enlarged they can present as a palpable node. The question here is why it is enlarged and is it really a lymph node. Best to have this examined by your PCP and let them make the determination of whether or not this needs further investigation (probably not). Best wishes.

Could be..: Lymph node, lipoma (fat collection), cyst (pocket of fluid that is usually meaningless), fibrous scar.  If you have sweats, fever, weight loss, or if it becomes painful or begins to enlarge; then have it checked.

: The word itself is the answer:  can you slide the bump over the tissues below it, or is it difficult to move around? But this really doesn't matter very much. In theory, fixed nodes are more likely serious than movable ones. However, at age 16 almost any node you can feel is very unlikely to be serious, whether movable or not. Stop worrying and stop examining yourself: see a doctor!

: There are lymph nodes located in that area and it is not unusual to feel a mobile lymph node. As long as it is not getting bigger, is not painful and you are feeling well, it is likely normal. What is "Normal": Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They come in all sizes from pea to lima bean.  The are not usually easily felt.
