i have a subareolar abscess that isn't healing. 6 weeks. 2 courses of keflex. is there a way to get it healed instead of surgically removing the ducts?

Drainage: You can't cure an abscess with just antibiotics. Drainage will be necessary, either by incision and drainage, or, in some cases, percutaneous aspiration. Again, drainage is necessary to resolve an abscess. Good luck.

is subareolar abscesses surgery a major surgery. ? how long you have to stay in the hospital? complications after surgery? thanks!

Depends on the size:  Usually these abscesses are fairly superficial and can be drained as minor surgery ; however, if deep and widespread, may require a larger incision. Healing time would be about 7-10 days.

age 40, (1st mammo/biopsy) confirmed 1.3x.8x1.4cm subareolar fibroadenoma in breast. more painful + incrs'd to 1.4x1.5x1.8c in 2yrs. leave or remove?

Talk to surgeon: If the lesion is getting larger and is painful, surgical removal may be the best answer. Talk to your surgeon to determine the proper course of action for you.

how long does it take for a subareolar breast abscess surgery? can you go home on the same day? what are the compilations after surgery? thank you?

Breast abscess ?: If the diagnosis is a confirmed abscess, simple local anesthesia to "numb" the skin incision, and placing a drain to prevent new collection of abscess fluid (pus) takes only a few minutes.  It is an outpatient procedure, with few complications unless the drain falls out prior to healing, and a recurrent abscess forms.

are abscesses in the nipple called subareolar abscess or can it just be a abscess ? doc today just said abscess from sweat, ingrown hair, etc. he didnt call it any particular name. im following up with primary care soon to drain. im on antibiotics?

: Any abscess is called an abscess. A subareolar abscess is just being more descriptive of where the abscess is. You can be more descriptive for any abscess. In the end, they are all abscesses.

my mom has a subareolar abscess in her nipple. the breast center specialist cant get her in until mid september. does she need stay on antibiotics while she waits or can her primary care drain it? she sees pcp tomorrow . thanks for your help?

: Some primary care doctors do the I&amp;D of the abscess in the office but not all. Hope her PMD can do that. Take care.

haziness in both perihilar region?

Can't see clearly: Perihilar=area around the hilum/root of the lungs, basically where the airway enters the lung--both=both sides. Haziness=not clearly defined increase in density, often due to enlargement of some lymhnodes/inflamation in the area. It is nonspecific--can't tell for sure what it is. A poorly done xray can produce this haziness. Consult doc to review finding in context of your disease. Good luck.
