Usually not: If you are not having significant pain, a cast often is not necessary.  However depending on the location of the stress fracture and degree of pain, a cast may be needed.

Yes: If this was an acute injury (like a fall) and your hand is swollen, painful, and with decreased range of motion, you should definitely see a doctor.  
A stress injury/fracture usually happens gradually and will respond to rest.  If you are not sure, i suggest that you see a doctor.

Need X-Ray Vision: Could be either or something else. To be sure, the hand should be examined in-person and a decision made as to what to do , especially at this age. Would be important to know the exact circumstances of the injury, if any, or if it was from repetitive activities. The fact that the area is tender and purple places it in a suspicious category. next

A stress fracture: X-rays often do not show a stress fracture, but they may show evidence of bone attempting to heal around the stress fracture. Other forms of imaging, including bone scans, ct scans and mris, may detect a stress fracture that does not show up on conventional x rays.

Depends on healing: Most important treatment for stress fracture of wrist is  complete rest to the wrist joint for three weeks. Patient should stop the activities that were responsible for causing stress fracture of wrist. Should then be assessed by physician for time table of resuming activities. Gymnasts, tennis player, basket ball players, divers are vulnerable to wrist overuse. Elevation of wrist is important to reduce swelling for first two days.
During the recovery stage, patient should take care that the activities that were responsible for causing stress fracture should not be resumed quickly, or else a large fracture and complete fracture may develop.

Let me explain: If you had stress fracture you will have pain, bruising, swelling and limited mobility due to the above.
I believe you could move your wrist (with pain) but not normally while you have stress fracture.

It's possible: If you have already had a stress fracture, you would be at higher risk for another one. This does not sound like a cyst.  I would advise to be aware of the female athletic triad of disordered eating, lack of a period and bone thinning. If you have lost your period, you are not getting enough calories and are putting your bones at risk. You should see a sports med doctor to evaluate your wrist.
