Since group G strep are considered part of the normal germs expected in the throat, GI tract &amp; female genital tract you could easily acquire the germ that way. Whether or not it is the cause of any throat infection or an incidental finding during a viral sore throat is a matter of speculation.

The action of growing germs on the sheep's blood and the prevention of growth near the antibiotic disc define the germs type. Yours was not Strep A.
