No.: Aphtous ulcers, commonly called canker sores, are caused by the immune system attacking part of your oral mucosa. It is not known yet exactly what triggers this localized attack. Strep throat also taxes your immune system, it should be treated promply and correctly to avoid serious complications like rheumatic heart disease.

The only: Link is that having any illness can be stressful and challenge your immune system, decrease your ability to rest, and this could have triggered the aphthous ulcers.  Aphthous ulcers are not due to an infectious agent -viral fungal or bacterial.

Strep throat: Strep does not cause open sores in the gums or back of the throat. You may either have an additional problem with viral infection or u could have two problems. Either way if the sores bother you see your doctor. You may benefit ether from an antiviral drug like Acyclovir or your doc may use a topical drug like silver nitrate to treat the sores.

Normal: Yes this is common. You might want to rinse your mouth with warm salt water to help reduce the bacteria is your mouth and it can also help promote healing of the canker sores.  It will definitely sting, but it helps stimulate healing.

: Canker sores are not bacterial infections &amp; thus antibiotics are ineffective treatment.  Try ice applications,rinsing with maalox or dabs of milk of magnesia. Ask your pharmacist to recommend a topical anesthetic suitable for oral application such as benzocaine. These should only last about a week.If no improvement, consult an oral surgeon.

As these names suggest, other infections like colds or strep throat can trigger herpes outbreaks in persons infected with type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV1). Herpes is especially likely if it started like a blister or pimple. See a doctor ASAP to confirm diagnosis and Rx advice.

Avoid hot or spicy food, mouth washes with salt water or a mild mouth wash
if you get recurrent canker sores you may have an underlying nutritional deficiency and need to be investigated and treated for that.

Aphthous stomatitis: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis or canker sores the most common observable lesion by the dentists. The topical anesthetic otc application is recommended. Individual ulcers typically last 7-10 days. Rec.: see your dentist if concerned. Smoking and drinking is not good for your body, but has nothing to do with this condition. Rec. If concerned, see your dentist for comprehensive investigation.
