Unfortunately, : Unfortunately, you can totally have both strep and the flu at the same time.  How miserable!

the most common symptoms of flu according to the center for disease control are: 
-fever (usually high) 
-headache 
-nausea, vomiting or diarrhea 
-fatigue 
-sore throat 
-runny nose or congestion 
-cough 
-body aches

unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose "just flu" based on symptoms alone since many other illnesses can cause similar symptoms such as strep.  It's important to have your doctor check you for strep throat since it can be treated with antibiotics and without treatment, it can rarely lead to complications such as rheumatic fever.  The flu is treated with lots of fluids and rest.  Good luck!

34 and have been experiencing discomfort under jawline as if someone is pushing fingers up into my lymph nodes for months since having strep and the flu. my tonsil on left side seems to be fine but feels adjacent to the discomfort. tonsil cancer?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably an ENT doctor. Wish you good health!

Strep ??: Usually we worry when a person has a sore throat caused by a particular type of a bug called Strep Pyogenes or group A beta hemolytic streptococcus. Did your doc check for this subtype of strep?  In addition, usually when someone is coughing that pretty much rules out strep throat. You were told you had flu. There is a 5 min test for Infl A and B. If + U can take good med within 72hrs of onset.

Yes: His/her  dr. Can test for strep. We usually prefer to make a single diagnosis, but both could co-exist. Strep throat should be treated with an antibiotic. There is only symptomatic relief for the flu. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is said to reduce flu symptoms for beween 1/2 - 1 day and probably not worth taking.

i have had the flu virus, pneumonia, strep throat, and now the stomach flu all within a two month period. should i be worried that i cant get rid of t?

More history: Is this a new development? If you have had bouts of pneumonia or sinusitis regularly in the past, you need to  have an immune evaluation (allergist).  Otherwise you need to just wait and see if this is a recurrent pattern. The stomach "flu" may or may not related to your immune system however.

Symptoms similar: The symptoms are similar or even the same and for most people the treatment is the same, increase fluids, rest, fever-reducing medication as needed. Wash hands! Try not to touch your face...and social distance. If you have an extreme sore throat, you may have strep and need an antibiotic.If you have that or shortness of breath, contact your doctor for further advice.

See below: Since the flu is a virus the only thing that works is time a symptomatic relief of fever and body aches with tylenol, (acetaminophen) rest and hydration. Strep is a bacteria and often needs antibiotics to get rid of it.

Unlikely: If you have influenza, plan on being ill for 7-10 days.  The severity and duration may be reduced(by about 2days) with tamiflu (oseltamivir).  Strep throat treatment is with an appropriate antibiotic, and many begin to feel improvement within 24-48hours.  Sorry, but i don't think you should plan on the talent show.  You aren't likely to feel well enough, and, especially with influenza, may be contagious.

Strep!: That's what a positive test for strep means. Call the doctor you saw for the work-up to get appropriate instructions for recovery - be sure you understand fully and then follow them. Avoid spreading it to others or even re-infecting yourself - replace toothbrush after well, etc. Feedback of lab results is a BIG part of medical services - be sure you always get it and 'get' it! Best!

daughter has had fever of over 103 for four days with fine rash. strep test is negative. is it possibly the flu and should i take her to emergency?

Flu has no rash!: There is no rash associated with flu.  I suggest you return to your doctor for further evaluation of the fever and the rash! soon!
