: In a normal x-ray/CT/MRI of the neck a gradual curve from the back of the head to the back. After a stressful event causes the neck muscles to tighten, the curve is less. By itself it is just the radiologist describing a finding that differs from a relaxed patient.  Radiologists get fussed at if they just say "straightening of the neck or normal variant" .

LOSS of lordosis..: ..is the problem. A slight curve of the neck (a C facing backwards) is normal; it helps the neck bear the weight of the head. Sometimes this curve becomes straightened, usually as the result of trauma or poor posture causing neck spasm. Long hours working at a desk/computer contribute. Treatment only needed if painful (pain killers/muscle relaxers); PT exercises strengthen/improve posture:)

Not much: So this does depend a bit on your age but the straining means just that when the image was taken your neck was strait and this could be due to many mostly benign things.  The degenerative findings are like arthritis but not necessarily a big deal and clinical application would depend on why the scan was done.  Narrowing of the canal? can cause pain but that was the end of your answer....

Eval by PM&amp;R: Would be advisable to see a physiatrist.  Would consider physical therapy, ice/heat pack, nsaid if no aspirin allergy, and hep program.  Also, should be aware of posture and activities that could be worsening problem.  So if picking heavy objects should avoid it.  Also, consider ergonomic adjustment in work environment so that neck is in neutral position.  Cervical pillow could also be bought.
