Loss of normal curve: Our cervical spine (neck) typically is curved with the head and shoulder portions slightly behind the mid neck portion. That is similar to your low back curvature. Both are termed lordosis. It is opposite to the curve of your back at the ribs, called kyphosis. Loss of lordosis in the neck is usually from spasm, or side view x-rays with your head on too-high a pillow.

See below: Lordosis refers to the natural curve in your neck. You can see this when you get a lateral x-ray of your neck. When you are experiencing muscles spasms in your neck or if you have a poor posture, the normal "curve" in your neck will straighten out. You essentially "lose" or "straighten" the cervical lordosis.
