GI symptoms: Start w clear liquid like water,  slightly flattened soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip, sip, sip. Work up to solids w bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy &amp; high fat foods. Rest.  See dr if not resolving.

Diarrhea : Speak to the prescribing physician regarding your complaint. Often such side effects will resolve with time. If they persist, your physician may advise adjusting the dose, when you take the medication, or possibly a different antidepressant if the side effect is severe. In some cases if the antidepressant is working very well it may be worth adding an agent to treat the complaint.

Viral infection?: Acute illnesses such as a viral gastroenteritis, or food poisoning can often exacerbate otherwise stable IBS.  Did you travel anywhere recently?  Has any one else become ill?  It seems like you know your IBS symptoms well, and what is happening now is clearly out of the norm for you.  If there is blood in the stools, get checked ASAP. If not, viral gastroenteritis usually gets better in 1-2 days.

Headaches: Diarrhea, tiredness, lightheadedness and headache may also just a viral gastroenteritis. Maintain yourself well hydrated. Considered gatorade to replenish electrolytes. Consult your physician if symptoms worsen or persist to establish adequate diagnosis and treatment.

Determine cause: If a patient has diarrhea, the important thing is to determine the cause - that way the treatment can be best directed. Food poisoning or 'gastroenteritis' is a common cause. In those cases, the illness is usually self limited and goes away within a few days. If it's something more, like a malabsorption syndrome, then you really need the help of a GI specialist or someone who can evaluate properly

Gluten allergy: The symptoms you mention are typical of gluten sensitivity.  If you don't have to run to the bathroom every 15 minutes you can try to go to work.  If you have a sick day simply use it.  Stick to gluten-free products in the future.  I know it is not always easy but it does pay off.  Consider using sprouted-grain breads like Ezekiel brand bread. Diarrhea: The common causes of this problem would be a viral intestinal tract infection or food poisoning. Both conditions resolve after a week or so without specific treatment except rest, intake of adequate fluid intake,avoidance of harsh roughage and taking of kaopectate or imodium as needed. If diarrhea doesn't improve, stool cultures are done to check for pathogenic bacteria or parasites

: If child has diarrhea more then a week you should go to your pediatrician. Child could have bacterial infection and could be dehydrated from diarrhea. Don’t use any medicine without doctor’s permission.

Common side effect: Gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea are common when starting Metformin. Most gradually adjust to it but some do not and eventually have to be changed to another option. Check your weight on a scale and see if it is less than before to determine if weight loss occurred. Metformin can be useful for patients with PCOS when trying to get pregnant but is not for everyone. Discuss with Obgyn.
